Trailhead Family Portrait Session

Ramona, California is a beautiful little town tucked in the hills of San Diego. I am in awe of the beauty that surrounds us in this sleepy little town. Everywhere you look, natural wonder abounds. I was super excited that the Wiewel family chose to have their family portraits taken at two locations, one in Ramona and one in Poway, just a short 5 minute drive from each other. The Mount Woodson Trailhead, also the same trailhead of the San Diego hiking icon "Potato Chip Rock", was our first stop on this trailhead tour. The light is gorgeous at this location. Aside from a few hikers passing by, it is an ideal location for portraits if you are an adventurous family. The terrain is a bit rough. In fact, since I had been there last, erosion has taken out half the path in parts of the trail. That didn't stop us from catching all the gorgeous light peeking through the trees. Such a spectacular location with mountain sized rocks and green foliage.

Our next location was Iron Mountain trailhead, which is another well known hiking trail. The arched trees are an iconic location for portraits. Plus, I always like to end the sessions at this location with the grand mountain landscape. Iron Mountain seems so glorious and proud rising above the San Diego skyline. On a clear day you can see the ocean from the top of the mountain.

I hope you enjoyed the Wiewel's sneak week. In case you missed any of their gorgeous portraits, here is a recap. Which one is your favorite?
